Of course, they are very worth the price since these are usually hand made and hand-drawn by small sticker shops. There are some great sticker shops out there with stunning stickers and there is a style for every planner out there. You can find my Top 10 Favorite Shops here. But of course, possibly buying a sticker kit each week or stocking up on all of your favorite icon stickers is not realistic. This is where printable planner shops come in!
Some people are discouraged by purchasing printable planner stickers because they don’t know how to use a cutting machine. Silhouette and Cricut cutting machines can be quite convenient. You can get a lot of use out of them. However, if you are not ready to make the plunge, you can simply cut them out with scissors or use hole punches to cut them out after printing.
Using printable planner stickers is an inexpensive way to discover your planning style. There are so many different stickers out there so it is important to determine how you like to plan and what you need to get started with your planning journey.

Materials Needed For Printable Planner Stickers
Really all you need is a printer and sticker paper. I wouldn’t recommend using regular printer paper and a glue stick as this could ruin your pens but feel free to do so if you just can’t wait to get started! Furthermore, this is a complete list of all my favorite materials:
- Sticker Paper: You can find white letter size printer labels virtually in any office supply store or you can pick them up on Amazon. This is my favorite Sheet Label Sticker Paper. Depending on your printer settings, you may want to feed the printable area face down in your printer so it prints correctly.
- Printer: You most likely have a printer in your home but if you don’t, my absolute favorite printer is the HP Envy 6458e Printer. It is extremely affordable and of great quality.
- Scissors: Again you most likely have these laying around somewhere in your home. But I find that the ones that hold up the best are the Scotch Scissors. Cutting stickers can cause your scissors to go blunt because of the adhesive. These have endured years of cutting through sticker paper.
- Hole Punches: If you just want to skip the scissors or cutting machine altogether, you can use these large circle hole punches to cut out your icon stickers.
- Cutting Machines: Ultimately, the most convenient way to cut your stickers is by using a cutting machine. There is a bit of a learning curve but you can become an expert in no time! The best, most affordable, and simplest options in the market are the Silhouette Portrait 3 and the Cricut Explore Air 2.
Types Of Printable Stickers
In reality, you can find some amazing printable planner stickers out there and can find very similar stickers to physical planner shops. The only thing that you may not be able to find is the exact paper they use. Sticker shop owners really do their research to find the best paper for their shops. They also have the advantage of buying in bulk. As you are doing this at home, you may not be able to find comparable paper. The up side is that you virtually have any sticker on demand when you are ready to purchase it. You can also foil your stickers at home if you wish.

- Functional Icon Stickers: These are the stickers with an icon that represents an everyday activity or a specific activity that you would like to highlight in your planner. - Weekly Sticker Kits: They are sets of stickers that you use throughout a weekly spread and they generally include checklists, check boxes, full deco boxes, habit trackers, half boxes, quarter boxes and more.
- Monthly Kits: These sets usually include overlays with the name of the month and art to cover the top part of your planner monthly spread. They also include a sidebar checklist and label stickers to mark important dates in your calendar.
- Journaling Kits: Similarly to weekly kits, these journaling kits include different elements to decorate your planner spreads. Journaling kits typically include watercolor swatches, washi swatches, and decorative icons or florals.
- Flatlay Stickers: A scene of a typical activity such as cleaning, studying or working. These stickers are usually a half-box rectangle with scenery displaying these activities.
- Script Stickers: If you don’t love your handwriting, script stickers are a great replacement to words that you write in your planner. They also make your planner spreads pop with beautiful calligraphy.

My motto is “Never buy full price”. There is no need to buy stickers at regular price whether they are physical or printable stickers. Most of the time, if you discover a new shop that you like on Etsy, you can look them up on Instagram. They will most likely have a coupon code displayed in their bio. There are also other ways that you can track down coupon codes.
✨ Find a shop’s PR Team! Usually a PR rep for a sticker shop will have an attractive coupon code and sometimes even an additional freebie available with each purchase. The rep will also most likely be approachable and help answer questions.
✨ If you are shopping on Etsy, save the stickers of your choice to your favorites. Several shops will provide coupon codes afterwards.
✨ If a shop has a newsletter, definitely subscribe to it. This is a channel where amazing sales are announced by shops and a lot of times, you don’t even need a coupon code.

Personally, when I was beginning my planning journey, I did feel a little discouraged. Some sticker kits were way out of my budget.
